Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has lodged an ethics complaint against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D), accusing her of not disclosing luxury vacations taken with Nathan Wade, a leading prosecutor in former President Trump’s Georgia criminal case. Filed with the Georgia State Ethics Commission, the complaint alleges Willis failed to report “suspicious relationships and transactions” with Wade, potentially violating the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Act. However, the jurisdiction of the commission over such complaints remains unclear, as it typically does not investigate ethical or moral conduct or misuse of state or local funds.
The complaint stems from allegations by Mike Roman, a co-defendant in Trump’s case, claiming Willis and Wade vacationed together in destinations like the Caribbean and Napa Valley. Greene suggests the payments to Wade for the Trump case necessitate disclosure of any financial interactions between Willis and Wade. Willis’s office has not commented, but earlier responses to similar accusations acknowledged their relationship began after Wade’s hiring and that they share travel expenses.
