Tech billionaire Elon Musk has scaled back his commitment to donate $45 million per month to support former President Trump. In a Tuesday interview with conservative commentator Jordan Peterson, Musk clarified, “What’s been reported in the media is simply not true.” He further explained on X, the social platform he owns, that he is still supporting America PAC, but “at a much lower level,” without confirming the exact figure.

Musk’s initial pledge to America PAC, which he co-founded with other conservative donors, coincided with Trump naming Sen. JD Vance as his running mate. Despite previously vowing to stay out of the 2024 election, Musk endorsed Trump last week after the former president survived an assassination attempt. Musk posted a video on X showing Trump raising his fist after being shot in the ear, writing, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”

Reports in May suggested Musk and Trump had discussed a potential advisory role for Musk in a future Trump administration.
