A nearly two-hour interview between Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and pundit Tucker Carlson erupted into shouting and accusations Wednesday as the two sparred over foreign policy, President Donald Trump, and the influence of lobbying groups like AIPAC.

The most viral moment—Carlson quizzing Cruz on Iran’s population—sparked social media buzz before the full interview’s release. But their combative exchange covered far more ground.

Carlson vs. Cruz on AIPAC and Israel
Carlson questioned Cruz’s hawkish stance on Iran and his support for U.S. military aid to Israel, pointing to AIPAC’s financial backing. “I’ve never taken money from Israel, have you?” Carlson asked. Cruz admitted AIPAC “raises a lot of money for me” but claimed it “is not more effective” in Washington. He dismissed Carlson’s criticism as “reckless rhetoric.”

Diverging Views on Trump and Iran
Cruz defended his assertion that Iran is trying to harm Trump, which Carlson disputed. “Did we land on the moon?” Cruz shot back. “Was 9/11 an inside job?” Trump himself called Carlson “kooky” earlier this week over his noninterventionist stance.

Ukraine Sparks More Conflict
Carlson demanded Cruz apologize for backing Ukraine in its war with Russia. “You’ve been telling us we’ll beat [Putin] with other people’s children,” Carlson said. Cruz bristled at the accusation, blaming the war on Biden’s weakness.

Post-Interview Fallout
After the release, Cruz accused Carlson of misleading editing and attacked him in a podcast episode: “On foreign policy, Tucker has gone bat-crap crazy.” Carlson, meanwhile, doubled down on his belief that Cruz’s approach risks dragging the U.S. into unnecessary wars.

Their clash highlights growing rifts within the MAGA movement over foreign policy as Trump mulls further intervention abroad.
