Donald Trump, the likely Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential race, faced backlash for sharing a video on social media that depicted a truck with a portrayal of President Joe Biden hog-tied on its tailgate. The Biden campaign quickly criticized the post, interpreting it as a suggestion of violence towards the President. This criticism aligns with broader concerns about Trump’s rhetoric, which opponents argue incites political violence, a point underscored by the events of January 6 at the U.S. Capitol.

In response, Trump’s campaign dismissed the criticisms, pointing to what they describe as a double standard where violent rhetoric and actions against Trump have been overlooked or minimized by his opponents. The U.S. Secret Service, tasked with protecting the nation’s leaders, has refrained from commenting on the situation, consistent with its policy on protective intelligence matters.

The controversial video was shared by Trump on his platform, Truth Social, and was noted to have been recorded in Long Island, New York, during Trump’s visit to a police officer’s wake.
