Washington, D.C. — Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is facing bipartisan scrutiny after stating that the Jeffrey Epstein files “should not be a part of anything going forward” at the Department of Justice.
Blanche made the comments during a Fox News interview, defending former Attorney General Pam Bondi and arguing the department has already addressed transparency concerns tied to the long-running investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
The Justice Department has released millions of pages of documents related to the case, though not the full archive. Officials say some materials were withheld due to duplication or other reasons, but lawmakers from both parties contend the agency has not fully complied with disclosure requirements.
Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) said roughly half of the records remain unreleased, calling the situation unlawful. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) also pressed for full disclosure, warning of potential legal consequences if remaining files are not made public.
Blanche indicated the department should move forward after its disclosures, but critics argue unresolved questions about missing records continue to fuel concern.
