President Biden denounced Russia’s missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, calling them “outrageous” and aimed at depriving Ukrainians of heat and electricity during winter. He reaffirmed U.S. support, highlighting ongoing arms deliveries to bolster Ukraine’s defense.

Russia launched 78 missiles and 106 drones on Wednesday, causing power outages and damaging Ukraine’s energy grid. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks as “inhumane,” emphasizing their timing on Christmas. It marked Russia’s 13th assault on Ukraine’s energy systems, according to DTEK, the country’s largest private energy company.

Meanwhile, President-elect Trump has criticized U.S. aid to Ukraine and advocated for a negotiated settlement with Russia. Trump’s nominee for a special envoy to Ukraine, Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, condemned the attacks as violations of Christmas peace.
