An assassination attempt was made against Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday.
President Joe Biden condemned the attack and political violence from the Oval Office, stating that Americans resolve political differences “at the ballot box, not with bullets.”
Biden called for calm and denounced all forms of political violence, acknowledging his differing visions with Trump. He emphasized that changes in America should come from the people, not through violence. “The power to change America should always rest in the hands of the people, not in the hands of a would-be assassin,” Biden said. “The path forward should always be resolved peacefully, not through acts of violence.”
Biden also referenced recent acts of political violence, including the attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband and the plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, as well as the January 6 Capitol riot.
