President Biden’s reelection campaign highlighted a significant drop in violent crime while labeling former President Trump a “convicted felon.” FBI figures released Monday show a 15% decrease in violent crime in early 2024 compared to the same period last year, with a 13% drop in aggravated assault and a 26% drop in murder and rape.
Biden campaign spokesperson Ammar Moussa stated, “Donald Trump is a convicted criminal who enabled the largest spike in violent crime in more than a century.” Moussa praised Biden’s efforts, noting that “crime has fallen drastically in the first quarter of 2024 across all major indicators.”
The campaign has repeatedly used the term “convicted felon” for Trump since his conviction in New York for falsifying business records during his 2016 campaign. President Biden referred to Trump with this label at a Connecticut fundraiser, and the campaign has emphasized it in emails and fundraising efforts. Moussa argued that voters will choose “law and order” over a “felon who looks out for his fellow crooks” in the upcoming election.
