Former Attorney General Bill Barr suggested that people often take ex-President Trump’s threats too literally. He shared these views when CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins asked him about Trump’s alleged threat to execute the person who leaked information about his retreat to a bunker during the 2020 George Floyd protests.

Barr recalled Trump being angry but didn’t remember him mentioning ‘execution’. He stated, “The President would lose his temper and say things like that. I doubt he would have actually carried it out.”

Barr further explained that Trump often made such remarks to vent his frustration, but they shouldn’t be taken literally as they wouldn’t be carried out.

Trump’s threats extend beyond this incident. His legal team argued that a president’s threat to direct SEAL Team Six to kill a political opponent should be covered by presidential immunity. This argument is part of the defense in his 2020 federal election interference case, which the Supreme Court has begun hearing.

Despite his criticisms, Barr, who served as Attorney General during the last two years of Trump’s term, has endorsed him for the upcoming election. He confirmed he would vote for the “Republican ticket”, likely to be led by Trump.
