A new AP-NORC poll shows only 19% of Americans approve of former Fox News host Pete Hegseth’s nomination for Defense Secretary by President-elect Trump, while 35% disapprove. The survey highlighted public concerns about Hegseth’s lack of government experience, with 49% viewing reliance on such individuals for policy advice as negative.
During a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, Hegseth faced intense Democratic scrutiny over allegations of misconduct, which he denied, while Republicans defended his character and leadership potential.
The poll, conducted Jan. 9-13, surveyed 1,147 participants and has a margin of error of ±3.9 percentage points.
