CHARLESTON, S.C. — Charleston County Aviation Authority police filed a report Thursday describing a profanity-filled confrontation involving Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) at Charleston International Airport.

Officers said they were scheduled to escort Mace to her flight at 6:30 a.m., but she arrived late and entered through a different area. According to the report, Mace began shouting at officers, calling them “f—ing incompetent” and claiming, “This is no way to treat a f—ing U.S. Representative,” while comparing her treatment to that of Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.).

Police wrote that Mace continued cursing as she walked through the terminal and while waiting at the gate. A Transportation Security Administration supervisor told officers he was “very upset” and that agents would file their own report about her behavior.

Mace’s office later dismissed the incident as politically motivated, citing heightened security concerns after threats to public officials. She also posted on X, asserting that all members of Congress use the same airport entrance and accused “fake news” outlets of misrepresenting the event.

The report concluded that any other traveler behaving similarly would have faced police intervention.
