PALM BEACH, Florida — U.S. fighter jets intercepted a civilian aircraft Sunday after it entered restricted airspace near President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, according to military officials.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said the aircraft violated a Temporary Flight Restriction around 1:15 p.m. Eastern Time, an area typically secured when the president is present. The aircraft was safely escorted out of the zone without incident.

During the interception, NORAD confirmed that military aircraft deployed flares to signal the pilot. Officials said the flares were used for communication and visibility purposes and posed no danger to people on the ground.

Authorities noted that similar airspace violations have occurred multiple times since Trump returned to office, with each incident resolved without escalation or reported threats.

Temporary flight restrictions are standard security measures designed to protect high-profile locations and individuals, particularly when the president is in residence. Violations are taken seriously, prompting rapid military response to ensure compliance and safety.

No additional details were released regarding the aircraft or pilot involved.
