DEARBORN, Mich. — The FBI said Friday that it had disrupted a “potential terrorist attack” in Michigan, though few details have been made public and key questions remain unanswered.

FBI Director Kash Patel, appointed under the Trump administration, announced the arrests of “multiple subjects” on social media but did not specify charges or provide corroborating evidence. Federal agents were reportedly seen at homes in Dearborn and Inkster early Friday. The Detroit field office later confirmed “law enforcement activities” in both cities but stopped short of linking them to Patel’s claims.

Patel, a controversial figure and Trump ally with a history of politicized statements, praised agents for “crushing our mission to defend the homeland.” Analysts and former intelligence officials urged caution until formal indictments are released.

National security contributor Tracy Walder told NewsNation that while she’s familiar with the region and past extremist threats, it’s premature to assess Patel’s assertion without supporting information. The FBI said there is “no ongoing threat to public safety.”

The announcement drew skepticism from some observers, given Patel’s record of partisan framing and lack of transparency surrounding the alleged plot.
