A recent Emerson College Polling survey indicates a shift in voter preference for the 2024 presidential election, with former President Donald Trump now leading President Joe Biden. The poll, conducted between November 17-20 with 1,475 registered voters, shows Trump maintaining a 47% support rate, while Biden’s support has decreased from 45% to 43%. Approximately 10% of voters remain undecided.
The inclusion of a third-party candidate in the hypothetical match-up, such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West, or Jill Stein, results in a drop in support for both Trump and Biden, with an increase in undecided voters. Notably, Biden’s support has seen a significant shift from last year, particularly among female voters, voters of color, younger voters under 50, and college graduates. Biden’s support among Black voters has decreased by 15 points and 11 points among Hispanic or Latino voters.
Voter excitement for the 2024 election varies, with 46% of Trump supporters expressing high enthusiasm compared to 29% of Biden supporters. In a hypothetical match-up against GOP candidate Nikki Haley, Biden and Haley are tied at 38%, with 25% of voters undecided. The poll has a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points.
