Washington, D.C. — Former national security adviser John Bolton said President Donald Trump may be in “panic mode” following Iranian attacks on U.S. military aircraft.

Bolton’s remarks came after reports that Iran downed an F-15E Strike Eagle and struck an A-10 Warthog, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. U.S. officials confirmed that at least one pilot has been rescued, while search efforts continue for another missing service member.

Speaking on CNN, Bolton criticized the administration’s response, arguing the lack of a visible reaction from Trump undermines U.S. credibility. He suggested the president may be seeking a way to quickly exit the conflict, even if key strategic objectives remain unresolved.

Bolton also warned that any captured pilot could provide a propaganda advantage for Iran but would not fundamentally alter the military balance.

The comments come as U.S. forces continue operations in the region and assess damage from recent attacks, including strikes on aircraft and search-and-rescue missions. Trump has maintained that U.S. operations have significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities and said the campaign is nearing completion.
