Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is calling for President Trump to be impeached following U.S. airstrikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran early Sunday. In a post on social media, the New York Democrat called the strikes a “disastrous” and “grave violation of the Constitution.”

“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”

Senator Bernie Sanders, while speaking at a campaign event in Oklahoma, said the airstrikes were unconstitutional. “The only entity that can take this country to war is the U.S. Congress,” he told a cheering crowd.

Donald Trump, in a televised address from the White House, called the operation a “spectacular military success” and said the targeted sites were “completely and totally obliterated.”

The strikes are likely to escalate tensions between the U.S. and Iran and have reignited debates over presidential war powers.

I would love to see Trump impeached, but with the Republican majority in the House and Senate, there is no way he would be prosecuted.
