The Biden administration is reportedly preparing to send a military aid package to Israel, including bombs and precision guidance systems, despite ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. According to a Wall Street Journal report citing U.S. officials, the package features MK-82 bombs, KMU-572 Joint Direct Attack Munitions for bomb precision enhancement, and FMU-139 bomb fuses, with an estimated value in the tens of millions of dollars. The proposal is currently under review, with potential changes before congressional committee leaders’ approval is sought.

The conflict, initiated by an Iran-backed Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, has resulted in significant civilian deaths and displacement, with over 28,775 Palestinian casualties reported by health authorities and nearly all of Gaza’s 2 million residents displaced. The U.S. State Department and Defense Department, along with Israeli military and defense ministries, have not commented on the report.
