New York City, New York — President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video on Truth Social showing himself throwing late-night host Stephen Colbert into a dumpster following CBS’s cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The video appeared shortly after Colbert aired his final episode. CBS said the decision to end the program was based on rising production costs, despite The Late Show remaining the top-rated program in its time slot. Critics, however, questioned the timing because the cancellation followed months of public attacks from Trump against Colbert and came amid a proposed merger involving Paramount and Skydance.

Colbert recently criticized CBS over a reported $16 million settlement involving Trump, describing the payout as a “big fat bribe” during a monologue on the program. Trump responded by celebrating the show’s cancellation, calling it the “Beginning of the End” for what he described as “highly overpaid” late-night television hosts.

The controversy has also fueled broader debate over politics, media influence, and corporate pressure on entertainment programming. During a recent appearance on the show, comedian Jimmy Kimmel discussed consumer backlash against media companies, including subscription cancellations connected to political disputes involving public figures such as Charlie Kirk.

Neither CBS nor Paramount publicly linked the cancellation decision to political pressure from Trump or his allies.
