PROSPER, Texas — An inquest in the United Kingdom has heard that a British woman fatally shot while visiting her father in Texas had argued with him earlier that day about President Donald Trump, shortly before her death.
Lucy Harrison, 23, from Warrington, England, was shot in the chest on Jan. 10, 2025, at her father’s home in Prosper, near Dallas. Local police investigated the shooting as possible manslaughter, but a grand jury in Collin County declined to indict her father, Kris Harrison, ending any criminal case.
Testimony presented at Cheshire Coroner’s Court described a heated argument between Lucy Harrison and her father about Trump, who was preparing for his second inauguration later that month. Her boyfriend, Sam Littler, told the court the disagreement escalated after Lucy challenged her father on gun ownership and sexual assault issues, leaving her visibly distressed.
About 30 minutes before the group was set to leave for the airport, Littler said Harrison led his daughter into a bedroom, where a gunshot was heard moments later. Lucy was found mortally wounded on the floor.
In a statement, Kris Harrison said he had been drinking that day after relapsing with alcohol and was showing his daughter a Glock 9mm handgun he kept in a bedside cabinet when it discharged. He said he could not recall whether his finger was on the trigger.
Police testimony noted the smell of alcohol on Harrison’s breath, and surveillance footage showed he purchased wine earlier that day. The inquest is ongoing, with conclusions expected later this week.
