Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) announced Monday that he is nominating former President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. “No one deserves it more,” Issa wrote on X, though he did not initially provide a reason.
Issa’s spokesperson later cited Trump’s efforts to promote peace in the Middle East, referencing a recent congressional delegation visit where Issa observed regional leaders moving toward diplomacy. He added that Trump’s advocacy has helped foster a “world without war.”
The nomination follows Trump’s recent policy shifts on the Ukraine war, increasing pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky while seeking to improve relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump has previously been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, including for the Abraham Accords. Some speculate his efforts in Russia-Ukraine peace talks are aimed at securing another nomination.
