A group of neo-Nazis paraded through downtown Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday, inciting public backlash before dispersing. The male demonstrators, donning red, long-sleeve T-shirts and black pants, were observed carrying black flags adorned with Nazi symbols. Nashville police reported no arrests, noting the group eventually departed the area in a U-Haul truck, hinting at their non-local origins. Eyewitnesses, including some wearing face masks, confronted the demonstrators, prompting their departure from Davidson County. The marchers identified with “Blood Tribe,” a white supremacist group formed in 2021 by Christopher Pohlhaus, advocating for white superiority with a focus on physical fitness and aggressive public displays. This group, known for disrupting LGBTQ community events, is under scrutiny by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for its extremist views and actions.
Local Democratic representatives Aftyn Behn and Justin Jones criticized Tennessee’s leadership and Republican lawmakers for not condemning such extremist ideologies, linking the demonstration to broader issues of hate speech within the state. Governor Bill Lee condemned the neo-Nazi group, reaffirming Tennessee’s stance against Nazism and antisemitism. A counterdemonstrator filmed the march, labeling the participants as “cowards” for hiding their identities.
