Pollster Nate Silver, founder of ABC’s FiveThirtyEight, called for President Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race after Biden made “incoherent comments” in a post-debate interview with George Stephanopoulos. Silver, who had written earlier about Biden’s shaky chances, changed his stance after viewing the interview, noting Biden’s incorrect claims about a New York Times poll and his disjointed answers.

Silver suggested Biden should transition the presidency to Vice President Harris within 30-60 days, stating, “Something is clearly wrong here.” He criticized Biden’s refusal to take a cognitive test as “disqualifying on its own” and noted that 57% of people believe Biden will drop out, a number he thinks is low.

Biden, facing increasing pressure, remains resolute in his campaign, hosting rallies and engaging with Democratic leaders. However, Silver pointed out that Biden’s poll denialism isn’t helping, emphasizing the severity of the situation beyond just approval ratings.
