Marjorie Taylor Greene claims she was ‘attacked’ in a restaurant

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., said she was “attacked” in a restaurant Monday night.

Greene tweeted that she was “attacked” by an “insane woman and screamed at by her adult son,” adding, “They had no respect for the restaurant or the staff or the other people dining or people like me who simply have different political views.”

“They are self righteous, insane, and completely out of control,” she said.

Greene said she was sitting at her table and working with her staff but didn’t notice “these people until they turned into demons.”

Greene, who didn’t provide the name of the restaurant or evidence to support her claim in her tweet, didn’t publicly provide further detail about the matter after her post. No photos or videos of the incident appear to have surfaced online.

Nick Dyer, Greene’s deputy chief of staff, said in a statement that staff members were preparing for committee hearings when the incident occurred.

After a woman finished dinner, she came over to their table and “introduced herself politely at first” before she “started berating” Greene, he said, adding that the woman’s adult son began “screaming expletives at the top of his lungs” and came closer to the table.

“I had to get in between him and the table because I had no clue what he’d do,” Dyer said, adding that the son continued screaming while his mother “continued to berate” Greene.

Greene briefly expanded on the incident Tuesday night, telling Fox News’ Sean Hannity that the man shouted, “‘Eff you, Marjorie.'”

Dyer said restaurant staff members eventually demanded that the woman and her son leave. They “apologized” and moved the staff to a more private table.” Police weren’t called, he said.

Dyer didn’t name the restaurant, and Greene wasn’t asked about the location on Fox News.

“The congresswoman deserves to be able to eat at a restaurant in peace. And giving the location would only make the restaurant a target and encourage people to look for her there,” Dyer said.

Greene drew backlash last week after she called for the U.S. to have a “national divorce” to separate red and blue states and to “shrink the federal government.”
