WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) sharply rebuked a Fox News Digital reporter after being questioned about allegations linking her romantically to Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), escalating a controversy that has generated significant attention on social media and within Republican political circles.
The exchange occurred after Boebert was asked about claims made by Cynthia West, a former congressional staffer who previously dated Massie. According to reports, West alleged that Massie discussed an encounter with Boebert while the two were in a relationship. West said she began dating Massie in August 2024, several months after the death of his wife, and claimed he told her the alleged encounter occurred before their relationship began.
When confronted with the question, Boebert responded, “F— you, first of all,” before accusing the reporter of engaging in sexist treatment and seeking clickbait headlines.
The allegations emerged after Boebert publicly supported Massie during his recent Kentucky primary campaign. She was among the few Republican lawmakers to back Massie against a candidate endorsed by President Donald Trump. During the campaign, Boebert described Massie as a longtime friend and defended her decision to stand by him politically.
Following the exchange, Boebert posted on social media that she has faced numerous false allegations since entering Congress, including claims involving drug use, abortions, and other alleged relationships. She argued that the latest accusations are similarly unfounded and criticized Fox News for amplifying them.
Reaction online was divided, with some users praising Boebert’s response while others argued she avoided addressing the allegations directly.
