According to reports from NBC News and The New York Times, Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign and affiliated committees have raised more than $1 billion since she announced her candidacy in July. This fundraising total surpasses the amount raised by GOP rival Donald Trump in 2024, despite his earlier entry into the race in November 2022.
Harris’ campaign has not publicized the figure, reportedly due to concerns that showcasing the large sum could reduce future donor enthusiasm, according to The Times. In August alone, her campaign raised $361 million, significantly more than Trump’s $130 million during the same month.
Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez credited Harris’ success to her ability to unite a diverse and energized coalition. Polls indicate the race is tight in key battleground states, though Harris has a slight national lead and improved ratings on key issues like the economy.
