Vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) addressed white supremacist attacks on his wife, Usha Vance, a child of Indian immigrants. On Megyn Kelly’s show, Vance expressed love for his wife despite the racist attacks targeting her Indian heritage.

Prominent white supremacist Nick Fuentes criticized Vance’s family following his nomination, questioning his support for white identity. Vance has not condemned these attacks but instead criticized liberal commentators for their views on traditional family roles.

Stop AAPI Hate reported an increase in racist comments against Usha Vance since the Republican National Convention. The group noted a dangerous trend of targeting South Asians by political leaders and far-right extremists.

Vice President Harris, also of Indian descent, faces similar racially charged challenges as she emerges as the likely Democratic candidate against Trump. Stop AAPI Hate condemned efforts to fuel hate against both Harris and Usha Vance, emphasizing the disregard for the safety of Asian American communities.

Vance also addressed past derogatory comments about Harris being childless, praising his wife for balancing her career with motherhood and criticizing the Democratic Party for being “antifamily and antichild.”
