In a recent interview, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Republican women in politics often act as “handmaidens to the patriarchy,” singling out few exceptions like Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska). The comments came during a discussion hosted by moderator Margaret Hoover on the challenges facing women in politics.

Clinton reaffirmed her belief that the U.S. is overdue for its first female president and said she would back a qualified candidate, citing Kamala Harris as someone she had supported.

Clinton also sharply criticized Vice President J.D. Vance and presidential adviser Elon Musk, accusing them of promoting retrograde gender roles and pressuring women to prioritize childbirth as part of a broader conservative agenda. She linked these views to the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, calling it a roadmap to reverse modern family structures and social norms.

“They want a return to the 1950s — or earlier,” Clinton said, warning that under Trump, policies would regress on gender, immigration, and religious diversity.
