Washington, D.C.Elon Musk said Sunday that he would personally cover the legal defense costs for any Jeffrey Epstein survivor sued for publicly naming individuals they say were responsible for their abuse, reigniting debate over transparency surrounding the Epstein case.

In a post on the social media platform X, Musk wrote that he would pay “for the defense of anyone who speaks the truth about this and is sued for doing so.” His comment came after a Super Bowl advertisement aired by Epstein survivors alleging that millions of documents connected to Epstein’s estate remain unreleased. The ad urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to make additional records public.

The issue gained further attention after conservative commentator Matt Walsh questioned why survivors who claim to know the identities of powerful abusers have not named them publicly. Walsh suggested that alleged fears of lawsuits were unconvincing, arguing that names could be shared with members of Congress, who are protected by legal immunity when speaking on the House or Senate floor.

Musk responded directly to Walsh’s post by offering to underwrite legal defenses for survivors who speak publicly and face litigation. The Department of Justice has said it has released more than three million Epstein-related documents and maintains that no additional files are being withheld.

Musk has previously acknowledged that his name appeared in Epstein-related emails but has said he never visited Epstein’s island or participated in related activities. He has repeatedly called for prosecutions rather than document releases alone.
