The Colorado GOP faced criticism from Republicans for ejecting Sandra Fish, a political reporter for The Colorado Sun, from a statewide event. Fish was removed from the state GOP assembly after being told by an event organizer that she was not allowed to attend.
Colorado GOP chairman Dave Williams, who is running for U.S. Congress, reportedly found Fish’s current reporting to be unfair. Kristi Burton Brown, a former chair of the Colorado GOP, called the move to eject Fish “dangerous,” emphasizing the need for transparency. Colorado state Representative Matt Soper and State Senator Barbara Kirkmeyer also criticized the incident. Fish, who has covered politics since 1982, was defended by Colorado Sun editor and co-founder Larry Ryckman as an “experienced, accomplished journalist.”
