New York, New York — Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney and longtime critic, says he has reconciled with Trump after years of legal conflict and public attacks.
Cohen told 77 WABC’s “Cats & Cosby Show” that the relationship changed about six months ago after he received a message from a mutual friend describing Trump’s “genuine empathy” for what Cohen said he was experiencing from critics on the left. Cohen said he then texted Trump directly to thank him and express hope that their feud could end.
According to Cohen, Trump responded quickly and said it was time for them to meet. Cohen said the “ice” between them broke after years of hostility.
Cohen also defended Trump on the Jeffrey Epstein issue, saying he never saw or heard of Epstein in Trump’s office while he worked for him. Trump and Epstein knew each other years ago but later had a falling out before Epstein faced criminal charges.
Cohen was once a key witness against Trump in legal cases, including the New York hush-money case. He pleaded guilty in 2018 to campaign finance violations and tax evasion and later pleaded guilty to lying to Congress. Cohen’s shift comes as he prepares to host a program on WABC radio.
