SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Republican U.S. Senate nominee Ken Paxton appears to have abandoned plans to close his “Come and Take It” campaign tour at the Alamo, shifting his final Election Day-eve appearances to other parts of Texas instead.

Paxton’s campaign originally announced that its 18-day bus tour would conclude Nov. 2 at the historic San Antonio landmark. The Alamo was central to the tour’s branding, with Paxton using imagery from the Texas Revolution and the slogan, “When they come after Texans, Ken Paxton goes after them.”

By Saturday, however, the campaign’s public schedule listed Monday events in Conroe and Allen instead. The Conroe stop is scheduled for 11 a.m., followed by an evening event in Allen, roughly 300 miles from San Antonio. Paxton’s campaign had not publicly explained the change.

The Alamo Trust told Texas Public Radio it was unaware of plans for a Paxton rally on its grounds. The historic site generally prohibits political campaign events, raising questions about where or how the planned finale could have taken place.

Paxton’s closing tour has undergone several other changes, including cancellations or rescheduling of stops in El Paso, Tyler, Texarkana and Mission. One Tyler event was canceled after Vice President JD Vance scheduled appearances elsewhere in Texas.

Paxton is running against Democratic state Rep. James Talarico for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. John Cornyn. Election Day is Nov. 3.
