Greensboro, North Carolina — Greensboro police are investigating a bizarre early morning break-in at a Popeyes restaurant after a suspect allegedly entered the business, cooked a full meal, and then stole additional items before leaving the scene.
According to the Greensboro Police Department, officers were called around 5 a.m. Thursday to the Popeyes located on West Gate City Boulevard. Investigators said the suspect managed to get inside the restaurant and proceeded to cook shrimp, biscuits, and fries before taking other items and fleeing.
Police have not announced any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The unusual details quickly spread online after Greensboro police posted about the incident on social media with a sarcastic tone, jokingly asking the suspect to “rate your food experience” by contacting police or Crime Stoppers. The post sparked widespread reactions online, with some social media users criticizing the response time while others joked that the suspect “worked harder than the actual crew.”
Others commented on rising food costs and inflation, turning the strange burglary into a viral internet debate. Some users even joked that anyone willing to preheat fryers and cook biscuits during a break-in deserved a job application rather than jail time.
Authorities are still asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact Greensboro/Guilford County Crime Stoppers.
