Atlanta, Georgia — Fulton County officials have filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration following an FBI raid that resulted in the seizure of 2020 election materials from the county’s main election facility. The lawsuit was announced Wednesday during a press conference led by Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robb Pitts, who framed the legal action as a defense of voting rights and constitutional protections.

Pitts said county officials were not provided a detailed inventory of what was taken during the raid and acknowledged that the county itself did not maintain complete duplicate records of the seized materials. According to Pitts, that uncertainty has raised concerns about the custody and integrity of ballots, voter rolls, and electronic election data now in federal possession. He warned that the county does not know where the materials are stored, who has access to them, or whether they could be subject to tampering.

A copy of the search warrant shows federal agents were authorized to seize physical ballots, tabulator tapes, electronic ballot images, voter rolls, and related electronic data connected to ballot tabulation and voter registration from the 2020 election. Federal authorities have cited potential violations of federal election record preservation laws and concerns over fraudulent vote submissions as justification for the raid. No suspects have been publicly identified, and the investigation remains sealed.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Georgia, and county officials are seeking to have the search warrant fully unsealed. Adding to the controversy, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was present during the raid, though federal officials have not explained her role.
