Houma, Louisiana — Authorities in Terrebonne Parish are searching for a person of interest after a series of stabbings left four people dead and a juvenile critically injured in Houma.

Deputies were first called to the Ashland Drive area, where they found a juvenile suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim was airlifted to an out-of-area hospital and remained in critical condition, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.

As investigators continued searching the area, authorities discovered four additional victims dead inside a nearby home.

The sheriff’s office identified 47-year-old Kaegan Jude Solet as a person of interest in the investigation. Officials emphasized that being named a person of interest does not amount to an arrest or criminal charge, and no charges had been announced against Solet in connection with the current deaths.

Solet has previously been arrested in an unrelated stabbing case. In 2019, Houma police accused him of repeatedly stabbing a 59-year-old woman at a hotel following an argument. Authorities said the woman suffered life-threatening injuries, and Solet was booked at the time on one count of attempted second-degree murder.

Police have not said whether investigators believe the current victims knew Solet or disclosed a possible motive.

The investigation remains active as detectives gather evidence and work to determine what led to the attacks. Authorities have asked anyone with relevant information to contact local law enforcement.
