Iran experienced a major disruption in its gas stations, with nearly 70% going out of service on Monday due to a suspected cyberattack. Iranian state TV referred to the incident as a “software problem” and advised against rushing to operational stations.

The Israeli media, including the Times of Israel, attributed the outage to an attack by the hacker group ‘Gonjeshke Darande’ or ‘predatory sparrow’. More than 30% of Iran’s approximately 33,000 gas stations remained functional. This incident is part of a series of cyberattacks Iran has faced in recent years, targeting its infrastructure, including the 2021 paralysis of its fuel distribution system by the same group.
