Authorities have announced the discovery of Robert Card, a U.S. Army reservist who was the prime suspect in a mass shooting in Maine that resulted in 18 fatalities and 13 injuries. It is suspected that Card took his own life with a gunshot wound.
Prior to this incident, Card had displayed erratic behavior during military training and had been subjected to a mental health evaluation. He was temporarily institutionalized for two weeks following threats to carry out a shooting at a military base and was also evaluated at a hospital in West Point, New York.
Despite extensive search efforts that included combing through wooded areas, utilizing sonar technology in river searches, and analyzing a potential suicide note, authorities were unable to locate Card prior to confirming his death.
