Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) is under fire from Donald Trump for opposing the president’s recent strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. In a Face the Nation interview, Massie argued there was “no imminent threat” justifying military action without congressional approval, citing the War Powers Act.

Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) introduced a bipartisan Iran War Powers Resolution to reaffirm Congress’s constitutional authority over war declarations. “We keep entering these overseas wars, then burden Americans for decades,” Khanna said.

Trump responded by launching a full-scale campaign to unseat Massie in 2026, calling him “weak” and “not MAGA” on Truth Social. Trump’s political operation has formed “Kentucky MAGA,” a super PAC led by senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Tony Fabrizio, pledging to spend “whatever it takes” to defeat Massie.

Despite facing past primary challenges, Massie has survived easily and dismissed Trump’s threats. “Swampy consultants are about to take some poor soul for an embarrassing ride,” he said. A Trump-commissioned poll found 52% of Massie’s district would support a Trump-endorsed challenger.
