President Donald Trump addressed the nation Saturday night, calling U.S. airstrikes that bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities a “spectacular military success” and warning that Tehran faces “tragedy far greater” if it does not seek peace. The U.S. struck three sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
“All planes are now outside of Iran air space,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Congratulations to our great American Warriors.”
The strikes followed Israel’s attacks nine days earlier. Trump had initially paused involvement to allow for diplomacy but said Iran left no choice. He was flanked by Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Iran acknowledged the U.S. had bombed key sites but denied lasting damage. Its foreign minister accused the U.S. of violating international law and threatened retaliation under the UN Charter.
Trump reiterated his stance that Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon. Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, whose earlier testimony disputed Iran’s intentions, was in the Situation Room during the operation.
While Rep. Thomas Massie questioned the constitutionality of the strikes, most Republicans voiced support, praising the show of U.S. strength.
