WASHINGTON, D.C. — The White House moved quickly over the weekend to reject online speculation that President Donald Trump had been admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, calling the claims unfounded and driven by social media rumors.
The speculation began after a routine “press lid” was called Saturday morning, signaling the president would not make public appearances for the remainder of the day. The decision, combined with Trump remaining in Washington rather than traveling for Easter weekend, prompted some users on social media to suggest he had been hospitalized.
White House communications director Steven Cheung pushed back on the claims, stating on social media that Trump “has been working nonstop in the White House and Oval Office.” A separate rapid response account went further, labeling the claims “insane conspiracy theories” and criticizing those spreading them.
No official confirmation has indicated any recent visit to Walter Reed. Trump’s last known medical evaluation at the facility occurred in October, when his physician reported normal imaging results and no abnormalities.
While the White House dismissed the latest rumors, recent disclosures have acknowledged minor health concerns, including a skin rash, ankle swelling linked to chronic venous insufficiency, and bruising on his hands.
