Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump early Monday threatened legal action against comedian Trevor Noah over remarks made during the Grammy Awards that implied Trump had visited Jeffrey Epstein’s private island, an allegation Trump forcefully denied.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump rejected Noah’s comments as false and defamatory, saying he has never been to Little Saint James, commonly known as “Epstein Island,” and that no evidence exists placing him there. Trump issued the response after first criticizing the Grammy Awards broadcast, calling it “virtually unwatchable” and attacking both the ceremony and its host.
During the broadcast, Noah joked that Trump might be looking for a new island to “hang out” on after Epstein’s island was shut down, a comment made following Billie Eilish’s win for song of the year. Trump took particular issue with the remark, asserting that he had never previously been accused of visiting the island, including by major news organizations.
In his post, Trump compared Noah unfavorably to other late-night hosts and suggested his legal team would pursue a lawsuit, referencing past legal disputes involving major television networks. Trump did not provide details about when or where a lawsuit might be filed.
Trump acknowledged that he could not speak for former President Bill Clinton, who has faced separate scrutiny over past interactions with Epstein, but maintained that his own record is clear. Noah hosted the Grammy Awards for the sixth and final time on Sunday night and has not publicly responded to Trump’s threat.
