President-elect Donald Trump announced Brendan Carr as the new chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Carr, originally nominated to the FCC by Trump in 2017 and confirmed unanimously by the Senate, currently serves as the agency’s top Republican.
Carr’s FCC term extends through 2029. Trump praised his performance, calling him deserving of the permanent chairmanship. Previously, Carr served as general counsel and adviser to former FCC Chair Ajit Pai.
Known for backing Elon Musk’s broadband initiatives, Carr has also been critical of Vice President Kamala Harris’s “Saturday Night Live” appearance, according to Reuters.
