President Donald Trump on Monday said his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein ended over a dispute involving staff at his Mar-a-Lago resort. Speaking to reporters in Scotland, Trump claimed Epstein hired workers away from him, which he warned against. “He did it again, and I threw him out of the place,” Trump said.

The comment comes amid renewed attention on Trump’s past ties to Epstein following a Department of Justice and FBI memo released in early July, which concluded there was no “incriminating client list” linked to the Epstein investigation. The finding frustrated many of Trump’s supporters who had expected more revelations under his administration.

Trump has since emphasized his distance from Epstein, who died in jail in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges. “I never had the privilege of going to his island,” Trump added. “I did turn it down… In one of my very good moments, I turned it down.”

As scrutiny around the Epstein files continues, Trump has doubled down on denying any personal involvement in Epstein’s social circles or travel history.
