President Trump on Sunday night lashed out at critics of his Alaska summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, rejecting claims that the meeting was a failure.
“The Fake News has been saying for 3 days that I suffered a ‘major defeat’ by allowing President Vladimir Putin of Russia to have a major Summit in the United States,” Trump posted on Truth Social, arguing that hosting Putin in America was a hard-fought concession.
He also ripped Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), who called Trump’s federal takeover of D.C.’s police a “stunt” and said Putin “got everything he wanted.” Trump fired back: “Murphy is a lightweight… Actually, nobody got anything — too soon, but getting close.”
In a third post, Trump shifted blame to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying he “can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to,” while accusing former President Obama of enabling Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea.
