WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump announced a five-day pause on planned U.S. strikes targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure following what he described as “productive” diplomatic conversations with Iranian leaders.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said the decision came after “in depth, detailed and constructive” discussions over the past two days aimed at resolving hostilities in the Middle East. He stated the Department of War had been instructed to halt attacks on Iranian power plants during the pause, which remains contingent on continued negotiations.

The announcement follows heightened tensions after Trump recently threatened to strike Iran’s energy facilities if Tehran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route. Iran responded by warning it could target U.S. infrastructure in the region, contributing to rising oil prices.

Markets reacted quickly, with Brent crude climbing above $114 per barrel and U.S. crude surpassing $100, reflecting concerns about supply disruptions.
