The Trump Organization is now selling “Trump 2028” hats on its official store, encouraging supporters to “[m]ake a statement,” despite the fact that a third presidential term is barred by the 22nd Amendment.
The move follows recent comments by President Trump, who said last month he’s “not joking” about serving beyond two terms. Though he later walked back the idea, telling reporters he’s “not looking at the scenario now,” he initially claimed there were “methods” to make it happen.
Legal scholars and lawmakers have largely dismissed the prospect. “Too fanciful to really discuss seriously,” said Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.). Still, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) introduced a longshot constitutional amendment that would allow Trump—but not other former presidents—to run again.
Eric Trump was seen wearing the new hat on X, with Elon Musk reposting the image with laughing and flame emojis. The $50 merchandise joins other Trump-branded items like Bibles, sneakers, and “DOGE” shirts.
