Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he doesn’t plan to run for president again in 2028 if he loses the 2024 election. When asked by journalist Sharyl Attkisson whether he would consider another bid, Trump replied, “No, I don’t. I think that will be it.” This marks a rare acknowledgment from Trump of the possibility of electoral defeat, as he typically claims that losing is only possible through widespread cheating—a false narrative he pushed in 2020 and has reiterated during his 2024 campaign.
At 82 in 2028, Trump would be older than President Joe Biden is now. Biden exited the 2024 race in July following poor debate performances and critiques about his age. In the interview for Full Measure, Trump also defended his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, taking credit for the development of vaccines while questioning their safety, reflecting skepticism that has grown among Republicans.
The comment about 2028 came at the end of the interview, during which Trump also joked about his health habits, referencing his well-known love for hamburgers.
