WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump said Friday he intends to cancel any executive order, pardon, or still-active directive issued during Joe Biden’s presidency that was signed with an autopen, asserting without evidence that Biden did not personally authorize the documents. In a Truth Social post, Trump claimed “approximately 92%” of Biden’s executive actions were invalid because they were signed mechanically rather than by hand.

Trump alleged that “Radical Left Lunatics” used an autopen to bypass Biden’s approval and said any document signed that way is “hereby terminated.” He added that if Biden disputes the claim, he should face perjury charges. The White House did not respond to requests for clarification, and it remains unclear whether the administration believes it can implement Trump’s declaration without a new executive order.

Legal experts say Trump’s claim has no grounding. Scholars note presidents from both parties have used autopens for decades, and constitutional law professors point out that the Constitution does not require written signatures for pardons at all. States Newsroom previously reported that experts described the theory as “absurd” and legally meaningless.

Biden has repeatedly rejected the allegation, saying he approved every pardon and executive order during his presidency. Congress — not the president — would likely need to act to alter any laws Biden signed, regardless of the signature method. Any attempt by Trump to nullify legislation on this basis would almost certainly face immediate court challenges.
