WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump’s Easter Sunday social media post, which included a profane threat toward Iran, has prompted renewed calls from critics to invoke the 25th Amendment, a rarely used constitutional mechanism to remove a president deemed unable to serve.

In the post, Trump wrote: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fin’ Strait, you crazy b***s, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

The message drew sharp reactions, particularly from Democratic lawmakers. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) urged members of Trump’s Cabinet to consider invoking the 25th Amendment, calling the remarks “completely, utterly unhinged.” He suggested officials should consult constitutional experts on whether the president is fit to continue in office.

The 25th Amendment, ratified in 1967 following President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, allows the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to transfer power if a president is deemed unable to fulfill their duties. It is widely viewed as a measure of last resort.

The controversy comes as the conflict with Iran continues to escalate, with thousands reportedly killed, including civilians, according to international organizations. Iranian officials also condemned Trump’s remarks, criticizing both the tone and content of his statements.
