President Donald Trump denied speculation that he plans to buy Gaza after previously suggesting the U.S. should “own” the territory. “There is nothing to buy,” Trump told reporters, calling Gaza a “war-torn area” that the U.S. would “take, hold, and get going eventually.” When asked under what authority, he responded, “U.S. authority.”
Trump’s remarks came ahead of a meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, where he urged Arab nations, including Egypt and Jordan, to accept more Palestinian refugees. Abdullah did not directly comment on Trump’s proposal but committed to treating 2,000 sick Palestinians in Jordan.
