Donald Trump skipped a recent “60 Minutes” interview but attacked CBS News for its handling of an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, calling it a “giant fake news scam.” Trump claimed the network edited Harris’ responses to protect her.
CBS aired portions of the interview on both “Face the Nation” and “60 Minutes.” Harris gave different responses to the same question about the Biden administration’s efforts to stop the war in the Middle East. CBS explained that both statements were part of Harris’ full answer, which was edited due to time constraints.
Trump alleged the editing was intended to make Harris “look better,” but CBS denied any bias, stating that the editing process was standard practice. CBS highlighted that similar procedures were followed during Trump’s past interviews. Despite this, Trump’s campaign called for CBS to release the full, unedited transcript of the interview.
During the 2020 campaign, Trump cut short an interview with CBS and later released the full recording.
